The Written Word: A Daily Journey into the Craft of Writing
The Written Word is a two-week collection of daily, compelling essays by writer and poet Victor Klimoski, designed to meet you exactly where you are in your writing life — whether you put pen to paper every morning or only when inspiration strikes. This series isn’t another list of rules or rigid techniques. It’s an invitation to reflect, notice, and grow as a writer in ways that honor your own creative voice.
Advice about writing is everywhere. Some of it is wise. Some of it is loud. The Written Word helps you cut through the noise with two grounding commitments:
Discernment matters. No single method is the way to write well. Every piece of guidance is an offering — something to try, test, and incorporate only if it serves you.
Awareness transforms. Paying attention to your own writing experience may be the most powerful teacher you have. What energizes you? What slows you down? What opens doors? These daily essays help you notice the patterns and practices that actually work for you.
Daily Essays That Spark Insight and Practice
Each essay reveals one element that guides the author's own writing and revision process. As you read, you’re invited to compare, contrast, and expand on these ideas in light of your own experience:
Where do you resonate?
Where do you push back?
What does this insight reveal about your own habits, obstacles, or strengths?
To deepen the learning, each reflection includes simple prompts for “road-testing” the concepts in real time. Apply the day’s idea to something you're already writing and see what shifts.
